Drapery Care Instructions

Cleaning custom drapery or curtains requires a delicate touch to preserve their fabric and construction. Here are recommended cleaning instructions:

Regular Vacuuming:
Begin by vacuuming the drapery or curtains regularly using a soft brush attachment. This helps remove dust, pet hair, and other debris that may accumulate on the fabric's surface.
Vacuum both sides of the drapery or curtain, paying attention to the folds and pleats where dust tends to accumulate.

Spot Cleaning:
For spot cleaning, prepare a solution of mild detergent or liquid soap and lukewarm water.
Test the solution on a small, inconspicuous area of the drapery first to ensure it doesn't cause
- If the test is successful, dampen a clean, white cloth or sponge with the solution and genty blot
the stained area. Avoid rubbing vigorously as this can damage the fabric fibers.
Continue blotting until the stain lifts. If necessary, you can repeat the process with a fresh solution.

Rinsing:
After spot cleaning, rinse the area with clean water to remove any soap residue. Again, use a clean cloth or sponge dampened with water to gently blot the area.

Drying:
Allow the drapery or curtains to air dry naturally. Avoid using a dryer or applying direct heat as this can cause shrinkage or damage to the fabric.
To prevent water spots, gently reshape the drapery or curtains while they are still damp and hang them back in place to dry.

Professional Cleaning:
For heavily soiled or delicate fabrics, consider professional cleaning services. They have the expertise and equipment to clean custom drapery or curtains safely without risking damage.

Preventive Measures:
To minimize the need for frequent cleaning, consider implementing preventive measures such as using sheer curtains or blinds to protect the drapery from direct sunlight and dust.
Regularly dusting the surrounding areas and keeping windows and doors closed during high pollen seasons can also help reduce dust accumulation on the drapery.
